Missive ↔ PM Brain Integration

Connect the PM Brain panel inside Missive so you can push an email — along with its attachments and inline images — straight into PM Brain, filed against the right property. Adding a short note gives the AI extra context so the saved record is richer to search later.

What you'll need

  • A Missive account you can log into.
  • Your Google account (PM Brain signs you in with Google).
  • Two minutes to generate a Missive API token (one-time, per user).

Step 1 — Open the PM Brain panel in Missive

  1. If you don't already see PM Brain, reload the Missive client so the integration loads. On a Mac: View → Reload in the top menu bar.
  2. Look at the right side of Missive for a small brain icon. Hover over it — it should read PM Brain.
  3. Click it to open the PM Brain side panel.
Don't see the brain icon?

Reload Missive again (View → Reload). The icon appears once the integration finishes loading.

Step 2 — Sign in to PM Brain

  1. In the side panel, click Log in.
  2. Complete the Google login.
  3. PM Brain asks for access to your information — click Allow.
  4. You're returned to the PM Brain panel, now signed in.

Step 3 — Connect your Missive API token

PM Brain needs a Missive API token to pull in emails and save their attachments to the knowledge base. Generate one and paste it into PM Brain.

  1. In Missive, go to Settings → API. (For most people this list starts empty.)
  2. Click New token.
  3. Name it something clear, e.g. Missive PM Brain, so you know what it's for later.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Copy the token that appears.
  6. Back in the PM Brain panel, paste the token and click Save token. You'll see "Missive API key saved."
The token is shown only once

After you dismiss the create dialog, Missive will never show the token again. If you lose it or need to rotate it, revoke the old token and create a new one. Treat the token like a password — don't share it.

Step 4 — Save an email to PM Brain

Once you're signed in and the token is saved, you can push any email into PM Brain.

  1. Open the email or thread you want to save.
  2. (Optional but recommended) If the email doesn't make the property or purpose obvious, click Add Note and type the missing context — for example, "This is the cleaning report for Manning."
  3. Click Save.
  4. A small progress note appears while PM Brain works. It sends the email body, images, and attachments to the knowledge base and files them against the property (e.g. "saved on the Manning files"). Inline images are pulled in too.
  5. Optionally, add a short note in the email thread so teammates can see the item was saved to PM Brain.
Add context when in doubt

PM Brain's AI reads the email and its attachments and extracts what it can on its own — so the property and details are often captured automatically. But if the email is thin on context, the Add Note step makes the saved record much richer for AI search and retrieval later. When in doubt, add it.
